Riding Helmet Safety

No one wants to think about it-a riding accident. All we can do is put our best foot forward, work with experienced horse people, and make the best decisions to help keep us safe.

We get asked all the time, "Which is the safest helmet?". The best advice we can give is to purchase the best quality helmet you can afford that fits you well. We are not saying spend $2000 on a Swarovski encrusted helmet-rather we are saying that a $45 schooling helmet may not provide the same level of protection that a $350 helmet does. Think of it this way, if you were in a car accident which would you rather be in-a two seater Smart car or an 8 passenger Suburban? Both meet all the same safety standards to be on the road, however one is clearly going to protect better than the other.

New technology has been introduced and helps in some accidents. MIPS provides a 10-15 degree sliding motion that helps to reduce motion to the brain in the event of a fall. (see video below)

Please feel free to stop by and try on our wide range of helmets to see what fits the best for your particular head shape.
