Mike's journey with Olson's Tack Shop began in 1996, when a friend who worked there asked for help with store inventory. Having recently graduated, Mike provided assistance whenever possible, allowing him to grow within the company. As they say, the rest is history! In 2003, Mike became the proud owner of Olson's Tack Shop (previously owned by Joyce Gilpin, and before that, founded by Carl Olson).
Mike's love for horses is what brought him to Olson's in the first place, and is what continues to fuel his dedication to Olson's Tack Shop today. If not at the store, you'll see Mike out-and-about at shows with his Dutch X Andalusian, Teddy. You may also see Mike's husband, Jason, in the shop, as he manages the backend operations, as well as his three, very hard working, Weimaraners; Oscar 15, Moe 13, and Ollie 5.
Mike believes in giving back to the community, and as such has always provided support to local horse shows, riding clubs, and non-profits. One of his favorite charities to support is Save A Forgotten Equine, whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and retrain horses facing neglect or abuse and provide them with the best opportunity for a permanent home and a lifetime of safety.
