Each side of the bit is perfectly balanced to assure total comfort and response.
How It Works
The Scourier bit features four rings instead of the usual two:
-
Inner Rings: Two rings attach to the cheekpieces of the bridle.
-
Outer Rings: Two rings attach to the reins.
-
The Action: When the rider pulls the reins, the design creates a squeezing action on the horse’s face and cheeks. Because the bit "floats" somewhat independently of the bridle, it prevents the horse from "grabbing" or leaning on the bit to ignore the rider's cues.
Common Uses
The Scourier bit is typically used for:
-
Strong Pullers: It provides extra "stopping power" for horses that tend to pull or bolt.
-
Leaners: It is effective for horses that lean heavily on the rider's hand, as the independent movement of the rings makes it harder for the horse to fix its jaw against the bit.
-
Precision in Show Jumping: It helps professionals maintain control and "shape" in high-energy stallions or strong jumping horses.
